Stephen Inglis

DAMNative BAND MEMBER: Kihoalu (Slack Key Guitar) Specialist, LOWDEN GUITAR

Stephen Inglis was born and raised in Palolo, the Oahu home of Keale's Niihau family. Stephen's parents were constant fans of Uncle Moe Keale who influenced their son. Stephen would grow up to become an influence upon the Hawaiian music scene with a wide americana, blues & folk background. He is also a Grammy-nominated Hawaiian slack key guitar specialist.

Stephen records and tours with highly regarded traditional Hawaiian musicians. At the same time he is an innovator: his album Slackin' on Dylan opened up new territory for slack key, winning a Hawaii Music Award. And he has made three albums of his singer-songwriter originals. Stephenʻs 2011 duet album with the late Hawaiian music legend Dennis Kamakahi won Hawaiʻis highest musical honor; a Nā Hōkū Hanaohano Award. The album is also on permanent display at the Smithsonian Museum of American History. He is a versatile artist whose work always shines with musical truth.
